Hi! I’m Dr. Amanda Lynn Barker, PhD in Holistic Counseling. I’m a metaphysical practitioner committed to helping Americans and other English-speakers restore their emotional balance, connect with the web of life, and form an intentional, sacred, and mindful relationship with nature through eco-travel. My practice empowers others to enhance their intuition, to embrace personal ritual and journey, and to transform stagnant narratives into scripts of success.
Nomad Star Travel, LLC is an experiment. I personally believe that the paths of travel and personal growth intersect at the point of discovery. Within any meaningful action of discovery is confrontation of uncertainty, the unknown, fear, and the truth that once a threshold is crossed, there is no going back. Discovery is a commitment, and I’m looking for people who are ready to try something new for the future of our planet and for themselves.
My own travel experience includes extensive exploration across nearly all of the 50 states, and maintaining residency in rural Indiana, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Jackson Hole, California’s far north coast behind the Redwood Curtain, Sacramento, and Los Angeles. I’ve also backpacked across Spanish-speaking South America, central Europe, the Balkans, the Slavic countries of eastern Europe, and into the Canadian cities of Victoria, Vancouver, and Toronto; and Guadalajara and Tijuana, Mexico. My outdoor recreation skills activities like hiking, camping, backpacking, river kayaking, and listening to the non-human beings including plant, animal, and mineral spirits.
I have a BA in Communication and Culture from Indiana University-Bloomington, an MA in Social Science from Cal Poly Humboldt, an MA in Metaphysical Sciences from the University of Sedona, and a PhD in Holistic Counseling also from the University of Sedona. For most of my career, I have delivered social services through the nonprofit sector.
